My Spring Picks
I know this Swiss Alpine cow has nothing to do with the clothes that I’m eyeing this spring…..
BUT IT’S AN ALPINE COW?!!!
We recently got an inch or so of snow and it crushed my soul. SPRING?! WHERE ARE YOU?!!!!! I know here in Bavaria, we have an actual spring. Like spring showers are a real thing…. I’m used to having cold clothes and warm clothes and here, I need cold, warm, and clothes for that weird in-between that is called spring. I generally look for bright pastels, because even though I will wear black year round, I do what something in my closet that is promising brighter days ahead, literally and figuratively.
I’ve put together a list of pieces that have been on my mind this spring. The hope is that even if a specific piece isn’t for you, maybe it gives you the inspiration for a piece that would fit into your wardrobe.
I would also preface, that for any piece that is cropped, I generally size up.
And I haven’t linked anything from Target (even though they’re usually a great places to find seasonal pieces) because they really are the worst at shipping to APO addresses.
MATCHING SETS
I know that it’s not 2020 anymore, but if there’s one thing that Corona brought us is a the matching set and I am here for it! I plan on only buying matching sets from here on out.
Now, I’m not 100% that I’m going to get to wear this out even IN the month of April, but I couldn’t stop staring at this set – and the color!!!! I loooooove that citron color! Plus, since I do live in Germany and am believing that travel will once again become a thing – it will! – this is exactly what I want to wear when we’re roading tripping to Italy. Plan for what you want, right?!
And these H&M coordinating pieces were too easy to buy; affordable, comfortable, and I envision this for school pickups (tbh, probably not till May).
DENIM JACKET
I have had a blue denim jacket for years; literal years. I bought it from J.Crew and I still wear it all the time. But this spring I’ve added this distressed black jean jacket and I can’t wait to wear it all the time. I originally ordered my normal size, but had to send it back for one size up. Amanda has this exact jacket too, and has styled it so well!
VINTAGE or STRAIGHT LEG JEANS
I honestly feel no pressure from anyone about to wear or not wear skinny jeans. In my opinion, they’re a classic that will never go away. But other styles – vintage, straight, wide leg – have become more popular in the last couple years, and I think they’re perfect for spring! Personally, I’m not a big fan of a straight jean and winter boots. But if you can do a sneaker or flat…. it’s one of my favorite looks. And obviously, anything Madewell are my first choice.
SANDALS
I know that I live in Germany, but I’ve loved Birkenstock’s long before I moved over here. Being here just makes it easier to add all the Birks to my wardrobe. And it’s no secret that I’m a Sorel fan – especially when it comes to winter boots. But I love their sandals as well! I have last years version of these shoes and I’m still all about them.
POINTELLE TOPS
I have seen this style e v e r y w e a r! Okay, I do shop at Zara a lot here and they’re partially to blame. But when it comes to spring, I’ll take a sweater that has pretty little holes in a pretty little pattern on it anyway. Plus, spring colors!
BOXY TSHIRTS
For some reason, all the boxy tees are what I’m drawn to this spring. I LOVE this one from Old Navy and my bestie raves about this one from Madewell and it’s not super cropped. Either way, I think the boxy cut is flattering and you can front tuck or not; all about the options!
That’s basically what I have my eyes on for spring… and, tbh, summer too. Because a lot of the pieces I’ve been eyeing will work over here in the summer too. Just throw in all the dress!
