Do you know what the most photographed event in the world….the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. It’s the earliest morning you’ll have, but you’ll also witness magic – I promise! This was my second time attending the Fiesta, so I thought this time around, I would share with you what to bring when YOU go to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta!

WHAT TO BRING TO THE ALBUQUERQUE INTERNATIONAL BALLOON FIESTA
WHAT TO WEAR
LAYERS
Layers are your friend! You’ll have about a 4am wake up call to go stand in line for the bus (which is the recommended transportation into the park), and it is cold! But when you’re back in line, waiting to get back on the bus after all the balloons have lifted off (usually around 10am), it’s usually warmer. So layer your clothes! And pick the comfortable ones!
BOOTS
If you can, it’s always good to bring a pair of rain boots, wellies, or something similar. While this hasn’t been the case the two times that I’ve attended the Fiesta, locals have told me that it can get wet and muddy on the field. Plus the field is wet no matter when you go because it’s so early in the morning. It just all rests with the weather. So if you have the room to pack a boot that will hold up to whatever the weather might be, I’d bring that one! I ended up wearing a pair of old Chelsea boots, and they were great!
WHAT TO BRING
CAMERA
There’s a reason this is the most photographed event in the world! It’s pure magic when you’re on the field, with balloons about to lift off, and hundreds of balloons already in the air! You will want to snap a few pictures. I primarily used my 50mm, but swapped it out a few times for my 85mm to get a few closer shots of the balloons in the air. If you have to have a wide-angle lens, that would be a great one to have with you too.
BLANKET
Being able to take a seat on the field, and watch the balloons lift off, it’s amazing! Even if you happen to win the Grand Prize in the DASANI Sparkling / Kroger and get those 2 Gondola Passes – which are l e g i t – bringing a blanket is still worth it!
SNACKS
DASANI Sparkling has a flavor for EVERYONE. I don’t know if you know this, but everyone is my family (minus one) are big fans of ‘bubbles’ and we grabbed the Raspberry Lemonade and Black Cherry the last time we were at our local King Soopers. I grabbed a few cans (that I had pre-chilled in our mini fridge) and put them in my backpack when we were heading to the Balloon Fiesta Park. Adding your favorite snacks is also a good idea! While there is G O O D food to be purchased at the fiesta, the lines can be long and there is only a limited amount of time that the balloons are on the field and lifting off. You don’t want to waste that time standing in line for food.
Magic exists people! Even the many, many photos I have of this morning don’t compare to seeing it in real life!
