How to Style Boyfriend Jeans | Oversized Sweater

I’ve always loved a little toughness in my clothes, and usually, I can get that through tomboyish pieces. Which is exactly why I love the boyfriend fit! They’re a great combo of tomboyish and classic, and I literally wear these jeans every chance I get.

But when it comes to styling boyfriend jeans, they usually require a bit more thought than skinnies – which look good with everything and anything. I’ve been ask just how exactly do you style the boyfriend jean? And loads of you (much like the mom jeans – which I still wear!) aren’t sure this look is for you.

Here’s the thing. If you like it, you wear it. If you can get into a store to try on a pair or two, you’ll be able to play with different sizes and see what looks and feels best for you.

I have a series of posts headed your way (3 total!) to hopefully provide some inspiration for styling boyfriend jeans! First up, boyfriend jeans with an oversized sweater.

Just because your jeans are looser in fit, doesn’t mean you always have to have a more fitted top! My sweater is more tunic style than just oversized, but the look would be about the same with more volume on top.  I tucked my sweater because I’m in the Shirt Tuckers All-The-Time Group, but a boxier, oversized sweater wouldn’t need to be. The cuff on the jeans, and a little bit of height from my heel (even sinking in the sand!) balances the whole outfit.

Honestly, it might be my favorite way to dress up these jeans. And I say dress up lightly because they’re loose, ripped denim….
