Generally, I tend to avoid skirts. Not because there’s anything wrong with them, I just think they’re a little harder to style than say, jeans. But this black denim skirt came home with me the other day (from Target, where else!) and I am loving it! Because it’s black denim and a skirt, this piece a tad more formal than regular old jeans. A little more formal…it is still denim.
But, because I generally think skirts are harder to style and thus wear, I’ve style this black denim skirt five ways. Hopefully this gives you some inspiration and confidence to go style a skirt yourself!
ONE | BLACK ON BLACK ON BLACK
A love a good monochromatic look and an all black outfit with this skirt is no exception. I think an even longer cardigan would look really good too but I don’t know if I would go much shorter as I might look to choppy.
TWO | PRACTICALLY OFFICE APPROPRIATE
If your office runs casual, this is the piece for you. It’s denim, but not really because it’s black and a skirt. At least that’s what I used say when I was working in an office that had a no denim rule. Black denim isn’t really denim….
THREE | GREEN + BLACK
It’s no secret that I love these Madewell tanks, and this green color looks amazing with everything, including this skirt. Adding the necklace that has both greens and blacks in it ties the two pieces together.
FOUR | MUSTARD WITH BLACK
I love this mustard color! And I love that it pairs so well with black too! It makes this outfit immediately feel more falls, even with the sandals.
FIVE | CASUAL WITH SNEAKERS
Naturally I had to pair this skirt with some sneakers, because mom life. And I thought do a white top, but how much do I not look like a cater-waiter. You CAN wear black and white, just maybe not a white Oxford. I grabbed my black and white Nikes, but I feel like you’re super cool if you can pull off a pair of high tops! If you have legs for days, I would try it out.
